What others are saying What others are saying

We are pleased to make available the most recent text of the UBS Greek New Testament, 5th Revised Edition, provided only after extensive error-correction checks, and authorized by the Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft and the United Bible Societies. The text is available for Windows or Macintosh in three formats, Greek, Transliterated according to the SBL convention, and formatted for use with the fonts in our NT Mss Font CollectionU. This last format is provided in three formats: with references, without references, and with references, accents and spaces.

  • Greek New Testament in Unicode, by Linguist's SoftwarebulletGreek: The Greek text is formatted in SymbolGreekU, our beautiful new Unicode-encoded Greek font, part of LaserGreek® in Unicode™ for Windows® or Macintosh®, which includes all standard accents, breathing marks, iota subscripts and diereses, and combinations of these used in Biblical Greek. Using SymbolGreekU or SymbolGreekTU the fully accented text is clearly visible on screen and may be printed on any printer to the highest quality supported by your printer. SymbolGreekTU is the font style of the Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece, with tilde-shaped circumflex accents (perispomeni). The text files are supplied in Word format (see System Requirements for Windows or Macintosh). Any portion of the New Testament may be copied and pasted into other documents. Below are samples in the SymbolGreekU font.
  • Greek New Testament Transliterated in Unicode, by Linguist's SoftwarebulletTransliterated: The texts also are available transliterated according to the SBL convention using our remarkable new Unicode-encoded transliteration font, TranslitLSU. This Times®-style font, part of the Semitic Transliterator in Unicode product, includes all characters and diacritics necessary to transliterate the Greek Old and New Testaments, the Hebrew Scriptures, and other Semitic languages. In this transliteration method omega is o-macron, eta is e-macron, and iota subscript is cedilla. Below is a larger sample of the text in the TranslitLSU font. (Owners of other typestyles in the Semitic Transliterator in Unicode product may highlight the text of the Greek New Testament Transliterated and apply the typestyle they own to convert the files to their desired typestyle.) Adding transliterated portions of the GNT to your documents is now as simple as a copy and paste operation.
  • Greek New Testament in Unicode for use with New Testament Manuscripts Font Collection in UnicodebulletFor Use With NT Mss Font CollectionU: The texts are also available formatted for use with the fonts in our New Testament Manuscripts Font CollectionU, which represents the original hand of early Greek manuscripts and inscriptions. The texts are provided with references, without references, and with references, accents and spaces, as shown in the large samples below. With these texts you can copy portions of the Greek New Testament into your documents and then format them to demonstrate the actual text of early manuscripts/inscriptions, adding the diacritics as found in the text. For details see the Greek NT NTMssU page.

Note: These are Bible text files (Word files) only, and not a concordance program. The files are designed to work in your Unicode-aware applications and allow you to copy and paste, and print, portions of the Greek New Testament and to search or manipulate them in any way supported by these applications. This product is valuable to Biblical scholars because it provides the Greek New Testament (either in Greek or transliterated) formatted for use with Unicode-encoded fonts, and because the files will work in any Unicode-aware application which can import Word files. Thus users are not limited to using the full text in a single Bible-search program.

Below you will find information about the Windows product, the Macintosh product, and larger samples of the Greek New Testament, the Greek New Testament Transliterated, and the Greek New Testament for NT MssU.

Greek New Testament Sample formatted in SymbolGreekU

The Greek New Testament (sample) formatted in the SymbolGreekU font.

Notice in the sample below that the accents and breathing marks are not pulled off-center when the text is justified in your word processor. With a Unicode font, combined characters with accents and breathing marks are input, and these diacritics remain perfectly positioned as the text is formatted. When fonts have overstriking accents and breathing marks the diacritics can be pulled off-center as text is formatted, since the diacritics are separate characters from the letters they modify.

Testimonials

Here's what others are saying about the Greek New Testament in Unicode Here's what others are saying about the Greek New Testament in Unicode:

"Thank you very much for your superb Greek text files."
Masaru Nagashima, Richmond, B.C., Canada

"I am truly thankful to have your product. You and your staff have been very clear, and professional; your skill and kindness leaves me with a compelling desire to express my thankfulness not only to you but to all who might read this note and that it might encourage them to purchase your products with confidence."
Brian K. Smith, Wheaton, Ill.

"I really like the Greek NT in Unicode."
Christian Becker, Hamburg, Germany

"In 2005 I purchased a Greek New Testament in Unicode and LaserGreek OdysseaUBSU and GraecUBSU in Unicode from you. I must say that I am very impressed. You have saved me hours of time every week in typing the Scriptures for exegesis and what joy I had lost is back again. I am so thankful to God for Linguist's Software, Mr. Payne and his staff. You even made it possible for me to read my UBS in the font I grew up with! Foolish of me, I suppose, but there is some comfort in that and it speeds up my recognition of things. In the Mellel processor you sold me I can easily alternate between English, Latin, Greek, Hebrew and German. Now my study materials and papers look like I had hoped they would. And I see that, if I should like a font that works well with whatever English fonts I have, that you are making those available too. Just excellent! You restore font-work to the eye-aiding practical art it should be. Thank you again. Gott bei Ihnen!"
Rev. Bradley E. Ragner, BA, MDiv., Pastor Messiah Ev. Lutheran Church Shiocton, Wisconsin, USA

"Thank you very much. I received all the files and everything works very fine. I have great pleasure with your products, including LaserGreek in Unicode OdysseaU and the Greek New Testament in Unicode. Again I want to thank you for all your service and help. May GOD bless you and your work and products, because they gave me new inspiration and joy in reading and writing HIS HOLY SCRIPTURES. SHALOM"
Christoph Metz, Cölbe, Germany
